The story, set during the last day before the end of the World, features a boy and a girl. In a ghostly Milan, she goes home to communicate the painful news to her family: she will not spend the last night of the earth with them. In a nursing home where only a few elderly people are left to themselves, he says goodbye to his father. The two reunite and drive through a wounded Po Valley. Arriving at their nest, an old family house lost in the countryside, preparations for their party for the last night together begin. They drink, they dance, and they fall asleep. However, the next morning, the sun rises again, and the two must come to terms with the future, a future they didn’t think would have come.
